The aforementioned group was founded in 2017 in Ierapetra, Crete by Giannis Dermitzakis in order to study music traditions born and still developing in Eastern Meditteranean region including pieces from contemporary composers. One of the aims of the group is to develop improvisation techniques (based on free standing and specific rythmical structures) through the study of rythmical motives and the phraseology of modal music. Participation is open to all who have basic knowledge of their chosen traditional instrument.
